This is a poster I designed for Gig for Gaza, a fundraising concert for the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund in Saint John the Evangelist Church Tralee. Having run concerts here in the past I was intrigued by the intricate design of the small Mother of Pearl depiction of the Last Supper which is on display in the church.
The poster design was based on it’s frame, incorporating the green, black red and white from the Palestinian flag and the green and gold to represent Kerry.
This was a gift to then Foreign Minister Dick Spring from Yasser Arafat, chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organization in 1995 in recognition of his contribution to the Middle East Peace Initiative, which was in turn given to the church where it has hung since.
